Karlstad University

The computer science group as part of Department of Mathematics and Computer Science is one of the largest (about 50 academic staff members) and fastest expanding groups of the university. Currently, 15 PhD students are enrolled in computer science. In 2014, the computer science group was announced as one of two excellent research groups by the university. 

The research areas of the group are data communication, privacy and security, and software engineering, the latter focusing on software architecture and evolution and migration of software. Research is performed in close collaboration with industrial and academic partners and the national and international level. Currently, the computer science group participates in four projects in the Horizon 2020 framework.

Karlstad University is a provider of concepts related to asset visualization and extraction with specific focus on the role of software architectural visualization of legacy systems and architecture recovery for the extraction of assets towards product lines.
